Round table on cultural diplomacy organised by Balkankult Foundation was held on 22nd June 2006 in Hotel Balkan in Belgrade. It gathered numerous artists, practitioners, and cultural administrations in two sessions - case studies and experiences and perspectives. The participants could attend the presentations of Mr. Christopher Burgess, Assistant Professor Charleston College on Multicountry comparison, Ms. Dorota Ilczuk, president of CIRCLE network on Cultural Cooperation in Europe and Ms. Marianne Moller, Senior Adviser of the Nordic Council of Ministers on regional Nordic model of cooperation.
The afternoon session brought the speeches of Ambassador Cynthia Schneider on perspectives of cultural diplomacy and its significance and visually attractive presentations of Ms. Vita Timermane - Moora and Ms. Dace Lesinska from Ministry of culture and Minstry of foreign affairs of Latvia.
Ms. Ksenija Graovac from Balkankult Foundation has moderated the meeting which was opened by a short speech of Ms. Ljiljana Sop, State Secretary.
One of the main points in debate was the possibility of enhancing the national cultural diplomacy in transition period.
