Days of Iceland culture in Banja Luka

Cultural program presentation - Icelandic culture was organized during film festival Kratkofil, which lasted from June 16-20 2009.

For the first time, people of Banja Luka had the opportunity to hear rimur music from the 12th and 13th century, which is popularly called the Icelandic Viking music. Full-evening program included Steindam Anderson the rimur music guru, accompanied with Hilmar Orn Hilmarson known Icelandic film music composer and the winner of Felix price.

The program also included the exhibition of Ragnar Arkelrson and presentation of famous novel by Sjon (SigurjĂłn B. Sigurðsson) entitled Bird Milk, released by BalkanKult. Rag’s photos are still intriguing, creating new myths about this distant and specific northern country. With help of the lecturer Dimitrije Vujadinović - Director of Balakankult Foundation, the citizens of Banja Luka had discovered new literature, cinema, cuisine, customs, and curiosities that they certainly did not know before.
