The development of private collections/museums in Vojvodina - REFERENCE DATABASE

-Project description-

The number and nature of private collections in Vojvodina can be characterized by their conceptual variety and diversity. That is why before preparing the Feasibility Study (indicating potentials and perspectives that collections offer in terms of their sustainability as small business efforts), a list should be compiled to bring together all the relevant facts on private collections in Vojvodina that their owners would like to present to the public.

A reference list of private collections in Vojvodina would include all facts in a single place thus creating the basis for expert assessment regarding the significance of a particular collection in a local community, Vojvodina and Serbia. Mapping attractive collections in the context of development possibilities for a private cultural sector would greatly enrich the cultural life of local communities.

The following goals would be achieved:

  • A contribution to maintaining and promoting a privately-owned cultural heritage;
  • Initiating local and cultural economic growth by activating new museum resources and  lending identity to certain locations;
  • Promoting the value of private collections to the wider public as a way towards an educational, scientific and economic growth of a particular community;
  • Introducing new museum content into the local and global museum network;
  • The development of an appealing cultural life in local communities;
  • Enriching the current cultural and tourist offer of Vojvodina;
  • Creating new job opportunities;

A reference database of private collections in Vojvodina would incorporate and categorize all significant information on the collections and their owners who are willing to present them to the public.

The database would include the following information: address, type of collection, category, number of exhibits, degree of preservation, research level, description and collection concept as well as other relevant information. It would also contain information about the significance of the collection in a local community, i.e. its cultural, tourist and educational importance.

Such a list would be illustrated with photo documents. In addition, it would include a short interview with the private collection owners.

            On the basis of this reference database a Feasibility Study would be prepared as well as a cultural-tourist cluster, enabling networking of private collectors.

Information on private collections in Vojvodina would be published in printed and electronic form.
